How regrettable

that arms name

hardware of war

instead of just

arms on our bodies.

To fit together

is one nub

in the language

roots of this word.

The only right

to bear arms safely

is the caring capacity

of our amazing

appendages that

comfort and caress,

have and hold,

cradle and embrace,

clasping each other close.

"Hug" from Shelter Margaret Hasse, poet,

and Sharon DeMark, artist
